Pet Waste BMPs
Pet waste left on lawns, sidewalks, and parks can be picked up by storm water and swept into storm drains. This polluted water flows untreated into our local waterways and making them unsafe for people and wildlife. A single gram of dog waste can contain 23 million fecal coliform bacteria which are known to cause a variety of illness.
When walking your pet, remember to pick up the waste and dispose of it properly in trash containers.
Try to use biodegradable bags.
Look for installed pet waste stations in your local parks.
